Multi award winning Road Fleet Manager, Barry Illing, established Roadfleet Forte Limited in 2007 having gained over 35 years of experience in the transport industry. With over 10 years workshop background including completion of a full apprenticeship, followed by over 25 years in fleet management Barry has gained a wealth of knowledge. His posts have included working as a transport manager for local government, general manager of a commercial vehicle garage and finally as the road fleet manager for the largest rail freight operator in the UK.

He holds a national and international Certificate of Professional Competence (CPC) in Road Haulage and is a qualified Dangerous Goods Safety Advisor (DGSA) in General Chemicals. He is registered with the Engineering Council as an Engineering Technician and was awarded Chartered Manager status in 2005 by the Chartered Management Institute.
Working as a manager within both a fleet operator and commercial vehicle garage environment has given Barry a unique insight into the expectations and service delivery levels of both types of business.

Since 2001 Barry has won five industry awards and received four highly commended awards during the same period.

These successes are a testament to Barry’s attention to detail and commitment to road safety. Through Roadfleet Forte Limited he is now offering his expertise to assist fleet operators in achieving best practice.

Barry has presented papers at national industry events on legal issues and over loading prevention. His opinion and guidance on road vehicle overloading prevention can be found in the Spring 2008 edition of the Roadsafe magazine available on the Roadsafe website.

Barry emphasises that as an independent consultancy-based service provider, Roadfleet Forte Limited can provide assistance and coaching to support in-house fleet projects and challenges.
